Outstanding antique 16” Rabery Delphieu Bebe. Rabery & Delphieu was founded in Paris, France in 1856 by Jean Delphieu and Alexandre Rabery. These French dolls are made of a fine quality pale bisque . This is the earliest one that I’ve ever come across. Her bisque is perfect and very pale. Her brown paperweight eyes are stunning against the paleness of her bisque. Her wig is original and human hair as the earlier ones were. Her eye brows are feathered and her lips perfect and lined. She has a dimple on her chin and pierced ears with little brass earrings. She is on a rare 13 piece wooden body with unusual cupped hands.
She is the perfect size and dressed to perfection with a cream colored silk satin dress with a quilted panel at the front and pleated skirt with pleated crinoline underneath that hangs just below the skirt hem. The dress is trimmed with a light blue silk satin sash around the hips and scalloped design below the sash and on the shoulders. Of course it comes with the most beautiful matching hat. Her attire is complete with slip, pantaloons, cream colored socks and tan leather shoes. Incised 2/0 D, she is a gem.
