In the early 1900s one of Germany’s most beloved traditions at Christmas was to decorate and buy for their children candy containers made of cotton or paper mache in the form of snowballs, logs, sheep, to mention a few.  Some of the more elaborate candy containers were extremely detailed reindeer or Father Christmas figures that separated at the neck or waist, concealing a cylinder that held the candy.

This Santa Candy Container is exquisitely made in the same German traditional process as manufactured over 100 years ago.  This authentic Santa candy container is made in Germany from a mold made by an original template from a late 19th century Santa.  Authentic painted by hand like the original, with rabbit fur beard completely made by Santa Artist Paul Turner.  His coat is made of antique-white faux mohair.   Torso, hands and boots are made of composition.  He is holding a goose feather tree sprig and Dresden lantern candy container.  The base is painted as the originals to resemble snow and covered with glass glimmer.  The bottom of the base is signed by the artist.  Completely antique finished.
