In the early 1900s, the McLoughlin Brothers, produced this wonderful lithograph dollhouse they call The New Folding Dollhouse. The house is made of heavy card stock and is designed to fold for easy storage and easy to set up. The front depicts a red brick house with clay roof and two chimneys. The front folds down to display the courtyard and two rooms with fireplaces and walls and floor decorated in late Victorian period in rich and vibrant colors with two columns framing the front. So much fun to decorate and display. The furniture and doll shown does not come with the house, they are to inspire ideas for decorating. The roof can be removed as can the chimneys. The left side shows a large picture window and bay window and the other side many small windows and side door. The back has many windows and a porch. It measures 17" wide X 11" deep X 16" tall. The bottom room measures 7” tall and the top room, 6” tall. It has the usual scuffs around the edges. The roof has two splits in the paper as shown. I see a slight difference in the color of the chimneys so I suspect they have been repalced. This doll house is referenced in Flora Gill Jacobs book, "The Small World of Antique Doll Houses", a must have for dollhouse collectors.
